ÅU ready for cup clash against JyPK

After Saturday’s league win away against JyPK, it’s already time for another meeting with the same opponent – this time in the Finnish Cup.

– To our satisfaction, we won the league match in Jyväskylä last Saturday, and now it's time for a new away match against JyPK. But this time, it's completely different circumstances with a cup match and the “win or go home” mentality, says head coach Daniel Norrmén.

He highlights several positives from the weekend's match and sees good chances of advancing – as long as the team can build on what worked well last time.

– There were a number of positive aspects to take from the last match, and if we can put those into place again, we have a good chance of succeeding in moving forward, which is of course our goal.

Three matches in one week means that the squad needs some rotation to keep players fresh. At the same time, illness has affected the team.

– A tough week with three matches means we will rotate the team from game to game depending on freshness and who is ready to step in and play. The only downside is that we have a bit of illness in the squad, which unfortunately means some players have to stay home on Åland to recover. But it is what it is, and we are ready to face the upcoming challenge regardless.

Kickoff in Jyväskylä is at 18:00, and the match will be streamed live at www.aub.ax.
