The Finnish goalkeeper Viivi Pietilä has signed a two-year contract with Åland United. The 18-year-old joins from FC Honka, where she has made great progress in her development over the past few seasons. She has represented Finland in several youth national team matches with the 2007 age group. With the move to Åland, she now takes the next step in her career and joins the team ahead of the upcoming season.

Sport Director Pierre Persson describes the signing as an important step forward for the club:

“We are very pleased to sign Viivi, who is a young, hungry, and exciting goalkeeper with high ambitions. She has had a good season with FC Honka and gained valuable experience at the senior level. Together with her appearances for Finland’s 2007 age-group national team, we see Viivi and Lilja as a very strong goalkeeper duo that will help us move forward in our ambitions. It will be very interesting to follow Viivi’s development together with our goalkeeping coach Ville-Petteri Laiho.” says Pierre.

Viivi is also looking forward to putting on the Åland United shirt:

“I am excited about the contract with Åland United. I believe this is a great environment to develop and take the next steps in my career. I am looking forward to the upcoming season and want to contribute to the team's success with my efforts,” says Viivi.

With Viivi Pietilä, Åland United continues to build for the future with a strong and ambitious squad.
