Riku Remes, who joined Åland United for this season, has chosen not to exercise his option for the 2025 season. Remes, who has been on sick leave since mid-July, sends his regards to everyone in Åland through this:
"I have decided not to use the option for next season. The decision was made out of deep thinking of what is best for me at this moment. The past season has been a great opportunity to work with wonderful people and because of that I am very grateful to the club. But it has aslo been quite challenging due to different reasons. But for now, it’s best for me to be with my family and work closer to them and also to take better care of myself. First I want to thank all the players and staff members at the club for this season. Also many thanks for everyone at Åland who welcomed me and for all support messages that I got from different people during my sick leave. All the best to everyone."

We are endlessly grateful for everything Riku has done for the club since the start in November. He has really given 100% for both the players and the club. We wish him the best of luck in the future and we look forward of maintaining the good relationship we have had during this season.
