Daniel Norrmén and Åland United have agreed that Norrmén will take over as head coach next season starting 1 November. The parties have agreed on a two-year contract with an option for a third year.
"It feels very good that the agreement has been signed and finalised, and I think the length of it shows the club's and my ambitions to create something stable that can develop positively over time. I have really enjoyed working with the team since I stepped in as a resource in August. I believe that there is a good foundation in place already today, which means that we can now start the work of building further with a view to 2025 and beyond. I look forward to working full-time within Åland United and it will be really exciting and interesting to start this journey together. But first we have 2024 to complete with an away match against HPS on Saturday" says Daniel Norrmén
"We are very happy to have Norrmén with us for the coming seasons. I am absolutely convinced that the cooperation will create success and stability. In addition, Norrmén already knows the team well, as he joined the team management as a resource in August." says club manager Linda Jansson
Daniel ‘Ahna’ Norrmén, came to Åland already in 2003. He has played 118 matches for IFK Mariehamn. As a manager, he has been both head coach and assistant coach of IFK Mariehamn's men's team and head coach of IFK Mariehamn's women's team. In August 2024 he joined the coaching staff of Åland United and together with acting head coach Ian Brooks he ensured that Åland United took a place in the championship series where they will play HPS away on Saturday. Norrmén will be on the bench this weekend and he will continue in the coaching staff this season. This year's season ends on 18 October.
